Doing a craft or activity with a child as you share stories together can bring books to life. Try these reading related projects to make you and your child’s reading experience even more enjoyable. Each activity is inspired by one or more children’s books and recommended by a school or public librarian.

We celebrated our 30th Anniversary with a proclama We celebrated our 30th Anniversary with a proclamation, read alouds, pizza, popsicles, library card sign ups, fruit snacks, families and supporters. What a great day! ❤️📚 A special mahalo to @pizzahuthawaii and Lauren D. for sponsoring our pizza and fruit candies! Another thank you to Baron B. and the @hsplshigov for hosting us at the library. We’re grateful for 30 years and more to come! 🎉
We had a William Shakespeare-themed Read To Me at We had a William Shakespeare-themed Read To Me at the Symphony event for keiki. Some of the kids shared that this was their first Shakespeare story and their first concert experience, which is so exciting! 🎭🎫📚 A special mahalo to @michaelthomasfoumai and @hawaiisymphonyorchestra for bringing story time and theatre magic to our families! Families were able to grab a free book to add to their home libraries as well! 📕
In honor of RTMI’s 30th anniversary this month, In honor of RTMI’s 30th anniversary this month, we’ve partnered with local authors to relaunch our READy, Set, Go! campaign 🎉 Join us in spreading the love and joy of reading aloud by making a donation in honor of one of these authors, whose read-alouds you can find on our YouTube channel. You might see your favorite book read at one of our upcoming literacy events!! Special shout out to Jane Gillespie and @mutualpublishing for helping us to coordinate with your wonderful authors 😊 Videos and campaign pages can be found in the link in our bio.

Rotary Readers from the @rotaryhonolulusunrise ded Rotary Readers from the @rotaryhonolulusunrise dedicated their morning to read aloud Dr. Seuss-themed books to students at @kaiulanielementary It was a blast! 📚 Fun fact: The Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunrise helped to found Read To Me in 1996. They continue to support our organization and literacy efforts in our community!
