Tree of Thanks

A Special Way to Say Thanks

Enjoy making this Thank You Tree with your child, compliments of the Disney Family Fun site.

What you’ll need:

  • Small tree branch
  • Flower pot or container
  • Pebbles, rocks or marbles
  • Card stock or construction paper (colored)
  • Hole punch
  • Twine, yarn, or string
  • Optional: holiday lights for those special occasions

  1. Insert branch into flowerpot.
  2. Fill flowerpot with pebbles, rocks or marbles to keep the branch upright.
  3. Cut leaf shapes from card stock or colored construction paper.
    (See leaf template.)
  4. Punch a hole on each leaf on one end.
  5. Write on each leaf something you are thankful for on each leaf.
  6. Loop twine or string through the hole in each leaf.
  7. Tie the leaves to the branches.

Suggestion: Pair this craft with The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, How Hau Became Hau`‘ula by Robert Lono `Ikuwa, or Under the Cherry Blossom Tree by Allen Say. Brainstorm all the things you and your little one are thankful for, and create personalized trees for the special people in your lives as a way of thanking them.
